ASWAD: Association for the Study of the Worldwide African Diaspora (ASWAD) is a not-for-profit, tax deductible organization of international scholars seeking to further our understanding of the African Diaspora, that is, the dispersal of people of African descent throughout the world.

The portal “Memória de África” (Memoirs of Africa) and “Memória do Oriente” (Memoirs of the Orient) belongs to Fundação Portugal-África. It’s a primary instrument, the first, which tries to explore the historical thread of memories that unite Portugal with Portuguese speaking countries and thus builds a bridge between our common past, enabling establishment of an identity that is shared by the people of these countries
